Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice: A Recipe for Pumpkin White Hot Chocolate

“I don’t see how a pumpkin patch could be more sincere than this one.” ― It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

I thought I should share yet more pumpkin spice this season. I am unashamed to love this flavor, especially when lovingly mixed with one of my favorite hot beverages: white hot chocolate.

I know… I know…. “White Chocolate” isn’t real chocolate. No, duh! Buffalo Wings aren’t made of buffalo, but you don’t hear me complaining about it. The point is that they both taste very good. One of them pairs well with a toasty fire, a pair of knitting needles, and some wool.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225ml) whole milk
  • 1/2 cup (115ml) heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp (45ml) pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup (120g) white chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp pumpkin spice
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • optional: whipped cream for topping

Instructions

  1. Place all of the ingredients except for the whipped cream in a sauce pot.
  2. Heat the ingredients on medium heat, stirring often until the liquid begins to steam at the surface.
  3. Turn the heat to low and continue stirring until all of the ingredients have thoroughly mixed together.
  4. Take the hot chocolate off of the heat and strain any remaining pumpkin spice chunks out of the hot chocolate.
  5. Serve the pumpkin spice white hot chocolate in a mug and serve with a swirl of whipped cream and a sprinkle of pumpkin spice.
